The sociology, social work and anthropology department offers an anthropology master's degree built around archaeology and cultural resource management. This work evaluates heritage resources that must legally be considered before public landscapes are altered.
The program was created to supply graduates qualified for management roles in the cultural resource management industry, and training responds to the needs of the profession. Students complete either a three-credit internship or archaeological field experience, which can include the department's summer field school lasting six to eight weeks.
The degree has a thesis option (Plan A) and a second plan option. Applicants with non-anthropology degrees may need prerequisite courses.
Prospective students begin with the university application and then follow the department's own steps, and the official degree page lists the details for applicants from abroad.
