BA/BS in Biology, General

The bachelor of science in biology can lead directly into a career or serve as preparation for graduate and professional schools such as medicine, dentistry, or pharmacy. Many health professions expect further education after the bachelor's, and this degree provides the foundation. The program asks students to start with the college biology sequence and gain approval from a biology adviser. The general education package includes writing, college algebra, and an American institutions course, and each student completes a global or intercultural course. Courses then build breadth across the life sciences within a 120-credit curriculum. The published curriculum adds up to 120 semester credit hours. Prospective students are advised to review the official Utah Valley University program page for the current course list, advising contacts, and guidance on how to sequence classes, and should speak with a department adviser before planning a schedule or declaring the major.
