Overview
Washington State University offers a Management Information Systems major that students can complete entirely over the internet. It is housed in the Carson College of Business, and graduates receive a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
The field sits between commerce and computing. Students learn how organizations run, then plan, build and look after the computer-based systems those organizations depend on. Compared with engineering or computer science, the work involves more collaboration with colleagues outside technology roles.
The curriculum combines technical, business and managerial material, and classes give plenty of practice building software applications. Learners can begin in the spring, summer or fall term, and every term has its own application cutoff, which makes it easier to start at a convenient point in the year.
