BA/BS in Management Information Systems and Services

The Management Information Systems major teaches both business and technical skills so graduates can function in a constantly changing economy. Its subject is how business, people and technology relate, with a focus on applying technology to study, design and build information systems that make organizations stronger. Careers span business-oriented and technical work as well as training and supporting system users. Common job titles include systems analyst, IT consultant, programmer, IT manager, security manager, and developer of databases, software or web applications. Students can aim at technical positions or at roles that lean toward management. The major is part of the Herbert Wertheim College of Business and does not use specialized admission. Classes meet in person on the Tallahassee main campus only, and students cannot complete the degree through online or distance learning.
