PhD in Computer Science

The doctoral program in computer science or computer engineering is run by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. It is designed for students who want to contribute original research and prepare for demanding careers in academia or industry. Doctoral students are funded in full, including tuition support and health insurance, and they receive a stipend for living costs. Support continues as long as progress is satisfactory. Some may also qualify for named fellowships. The department highlights the lower cost of living in St. Louis compared with other major cities. Students present papers at international conferences, join doctoral consortiums, and work alongside faculty whose projects have drawn press attention.
