BA/BS in Chemical Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering is offered through the Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering. It is meant to give students broad training in the fundamentals of chemical engineering. Chemical engineers help move scientific discoveries into practical technologies and new products while limiting environmental impact. The field covers clean energy generation, the production of improved materials, and applying advances in biology to manufacturing. A solid grounding in basic sciences supports this work. ABET's engineering accreditation commission has accredited the degree. The program page offers sample curricula, program objectives, degree and elective requirements, and a list of approved electives. Graduates are described as ready to continue in related disciplines or to train further in business, law, or medicine.
