MA/MS in Library Science and Administration

This graduate program centers on school libraries, information systems and educational technology. Students complete a core of required courses and one restricted elective, and the credits can apply toward the state's Rank II or Rank I pay levels for teachers. Educators who hold a teaching certificate may use the program to add certification as a school librarian along with an endorsement in instructional computer technology. Others can enroll without pursuing certification, for instance if they hope to work outside public schools. The degree does not grant a first teaching certificate. To apply, candidates send a graduate application and official transcripts from every college attended, plus a copy of their certificate if they want the advanced credentials. Faculty look for a 2.75 grade point average overall or a 3.0 across the final thirty hours, and they judge the whole file for signs the applicant can succeed in the field.
