BA/BS in Fine and Studio Arts

The art major combines studio practice with art history, so students think and make work together. Courses build skills, habits and knowledge for taking part in the art world and visual culture in a Christian community of scholars. Students explore their talents through critical dialogue and are encouraged to let Christian conviction inform both making and viewing art. Some combine a studio major with an art history minor. Alumni have become gallery artists, school art teachers, illustrators, graphic and product designers, textile and fashion designers, curators and consultants, and a few have earned an MFA and teach at the college level. A department flyer and program review summarize the curriculum, and the department maintains an active social media presence. Graduates have built careers working for well-known technology clients and publishing illustrated books.
