BA/BS in Mathematics

Mathematics students at Westmont take part actively in their learning and work closely with classmates and professors. They look past numbers and formulas toward abstract patterns, using imagination and creativity. Coursework and research projects strengthen thinking and communication skills for varied careers. Students may pursue bachelor of science study in mathematics, and a separate mathematics education major is available. A fast track in math education lets students finish a secondary-school mathematics teaching credential in four years. Alumni have continued to graduate programs in statistics and biostatistics and work in data science and technology. Students may also apply to a research scholars program, and the department publishes flyers for both the mathematics and mathematics education majors. Faculty encourage curiosity and persistence in every course.
