AA/AS in Computer Science

The Computer Science program at Wharton County Junior College leads to an Associate of Science and prepares students for technology careers in business, industry and government, or for transfer toward a bachelor's degree. Four academic tracks sit under the program: the transfer-oriented A.S., an applied degree in artificial intelligence and data science, and two certificates in AI and data analytics or machine learning. Students review an academic map for each path. Entry-level roles named by the college include programmer, web developer, database administrator, software engineer and cloud computing specialist. Students who finish the A.S. can continue to a four-year computer science degree. The college serves the Upper Texas Gulf Coast from several campuses.
