Computer science at Wilkes is a major, with a minor also available, for students who enjoy solving difficult problems with both logic and imagination. The department frames its aim as preparing graduates to build the next generation of software and data tools used across modern industry. Early courses establish a base in data structures and mathematics. From there, students can pursue independent study or research with faculty, and they may arrange internships or credit-bearing cooperative education placements with outside organizations. The program concludes with a team project in which students design and build software and then give a final presentation as their last semester closes. Past projects have included robotics drivers, chess engines and apps that streamline university workflows. Campus computer labs support this work, and former interns have gone to well-known technology and research employers.
