Economics is the study of how resources are produced, used, handled, and shared among societies, governments, firms, households, and individuals. At Wright State, undergraduates pursue it through a business degree with a business economics emphasis, so the subject is paired with a broader management foundation.
Students learn to anticipate how changes in policy or markets affect behavior, to contribute to the design of public policy, and to reason toward sounder business choices. Graduates can find positions in research, private companies, nonprofit groups, or government agencies, and some go on to graduate or doctoral work.
Other routes include an economics minor, an undergraduate certificate focused on economic issues, and graduate study in social and applied economics. Graduate certificates exist in econometrics and data analysis and in gender, race, and the economy. Combined programs let a student begin master's coursework while still an undergraduate.
