BA/BS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

The criminal justice bachelor's degree in applied science calls for at least 120 semester hours, with a large share of them in criminal justice courses and many at the upper division. Students can finish in eight semesters by averaging fifteen hours a term. A grade of C or better is needed in every required course from the criminal justice and forensic sciences department. General education and first-year success courses accompany the major. Transfer students complete a minimum number of criminal justice hours at the university. The program is delivered through Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and its requirements appear in the university's 2026-2027 academic catalog. Prospective students should read the catalog entry and consult the department about advising and course sequencing, since specific course lists, prerequisites and policies are set by the department and may change between catalog editions.
