ENSTA is a French grande école of engineering, known in full as the École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées, with a history of nearly three centuries.

It operates two campuses, one at Paris-Saclay near Palaiseau and one in Brest, and awards the same engineering degree on both sites. Its main course is the Diplôme d'ingénieur, offered as a generalist cycle and as specialist cycles in Defence and Security, Embedded Systems, naval architecture and pyrotechnic systems, some of them by apprenticeship.

Students arrive from preparatory classes through the Mines-Ponts competitive exam, from BUT or ATS routes, from the third year of a Licence, or from abroad. The school also runs masters and doctoral programmes, specialisation cycles such as the mastère spécialisé, distance learning and continuing education.

Research is organised into six units covering applied mathematics, mechanics, information science and computing, physics and applied optics, chemistry and processes, and the humanities, economics and social sciences.

The school counts about 2,351 students and 246 doctoral candidates in 2025/2026, more than 200 teaching and research staff, 27 chairs and joint laboratories, and around 20,000 alumni. International students can join through partner double-degree agreements, as free movers, or on exchange.
