Overview
Founded, as Groupe des écoles des télécommunications ou GET, 1996, became Institut Télécom, 2008.
In 2012, the Écoles des Mines, under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry, which had come together in the Groupe Ecoles des Mines (GEM), were attached to it. IMT groups together the French mining schools and telecommunications schools (public engineering schools accredited by the CTI), most of which are under the same ministry.
It is placed under the supervision of the General Council for the Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology. Telecom SudParis, IMT Atlantique, IMT Mines Albi Carmaux, IMT Mines Alès, IMT North Europe, Mines Saint-Etienne, Institut Mines-Telecom Business School and Telecom Paris are IMT's schools
