Overview
La Rochelle Université is a public university on the Atlantic coast of western France, in the port city of La Rochelle.
It teaches mainly in French and offers the main French diplomas: Licence, Licence professionnelle, Master, Doctorat and the Bachelor Universitaire de Technologie delivered by its Institut Universitaire de Technologie, alongside preparatory classes (CPGE), university diplomas (DU) and access diplomas such as the DAEU. Teaching and research focus on sustainable development in coastal zones.
The university leads the EU-CONEXUS European University alliance on smart urban coastal sustainability and, through the ExcelLR project funded under France 2030, has received 16 million euros over ten years with the CNRS, IFREMER and IRD as academic partners. The project supports graduate programmes, competitive research calls and lifelong learning.
First-year licence and BUT candidates apply through Parcoursup, while later-year licence and master applicants use eCandidat, Campus France or Mon Master.
Registration fees are set nationally by the ministry, with differentiated fees for non-European students introduced in 2022, and every student pays the CVEC student-life contribution. Campuses are served by a central student administration office and a separate IUT registrar.
