Overview
Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg is a state university whose students are mainly officer candidates of the Bundeswehr, with separate offers for civilian students.
Its courses are organised in trimesters: each trimester has twelve weeks of lectures, and the months from July to September are kept free of teaching for exam preparation, internships and thesis work. The university offers bachelor's and consecutive master's programmes in engineering, economics and social sciences, and the humanities.
Mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, logistics, economics, business administration, psychology, education science, history, political science and law for public administration are among the subjects. Many bachelor's and master's programmes are designed as intensive courses that can be completed within three and four years respectively.
Students receive individual advice, mentoring from academic and student contacts, and an entry phase that refreshes school knowledge.
The study programmes take part in the CHE ranking.
