Overview
City University of Macau is a university in Taipa, Macau, on Avenida Padre Tomás Pereira.
Its origins lie in the University of East Asia, which dates from 1981, and it took its present name in 2011, when it adopted a development plan built on four steps: renaming, restructuring, transformation and upgrading. Teaching is organised through faculties of Business, Data Science, Finance, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Wellness, Innovation and Design, and International Tourism and Management, together with a School of Education, a School of Law and a Graduate School.
Students can follow bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, diploma courses, pre-university study and a Global Summer Institute. Teaching languages vary by programme: tourism and hotel management is offered in both Chinese and English, and a licentiate course in Portuguese follows a Portuguese curriculum.
Research takes place in dedicated institutes and centres covering topics such as the Portuguese-speaking world, urban and sustainable development, economics, smart tourism and gaming, and data science.
A separate training and testing centre runs short-term study programmes, international certification courses and a college for older learners.
