Program details

Overview

At Barbados Community College, the Associate Degree in Applied Arts – Dance trains dancers over two years for Barbados's dance and entertainment sector, building skill across classical ballet, modern dance and Caribbean dance forms. The College frames dance training as a combination of broad general knowledge and real technical proficiency, preparing graduates to compete for creative work across Barbados, the Caribbean and the wider world. Entry runs through an audition and interview rather than paper qualifications alone: every applicant must demonstrate the technique level the programme requires and perform a short solo piece of around a minute and a half so staff can assess readiness before admission. Students can come straight from secondary school or from other backgrounds entirely, provided they can show the proficiency the audition demands.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission is by audition and interview; applicants must demonstrate the required dance-technique proficiency and perform a solo piece of about 1.5 minutes.
