Certificate in Creative Writing: Poetry 1

Barbados Community College's Liberal Arts division revived this creative writing course in the belief that every nation needs its own literature, one that reflects local experience and affirms cultural identity. The poetry strand welcomes both newcomers to writing and more advanced participants, and draws on instructors who are established, practising writers in their own right. Delivered online over two semesters and broken into four linked components, the course gives students the chance to see their own poems through from drafting to a finished, publishable piece, rather than treating writing purely as an academic exercise. Weekly sessions are supplemented with extra workshop time built into the schedule. A semester fee applies, with registration open during a set application window, and students can submit forms and pay fees either through Student Affairs or directly with the Liberal Arts division.
