Overview

The Certificate in Nursing Auxiliary Studies at Barbados Community College is designed to grow the pool of trained Nursing Auxiliaries serving Barbados's public and private elder-care facilities. Training runs for no less than six months, following a course approved by Barbados's Nursing Council, and prepares a Nursing Auxiliary to assist a Registered Nurse with basic nursing care for older adults. Graduates become eligible to sit the Barbados Nursing Council's examination for Nursing Auxiliaries and, once successful, to apply for enrolment on its roll. Application forms can be downloaded directly from the College, though the closing date for the next intake had not yet been set at time of writing.
