Brock University's Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation, offered through the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, prepares students to plan and deliver recreation-based interventions for people of all abilities. Coursework in assessment, program design, and inclusive practice is combined with experiential placements in community and health-care settings serving children and youth, people with mental-health challenges, individuals with developmental disabilities, and older adults. A capstone internship of 560 required hours gives students a culminating, hands-on experience integrating academic knowledge with practice in settings across Canada. Graduates are eligible to apply for certification with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Career paths include certified recreation therapist, inclusion policy analyst or consultant, long-term care administrator, and special educator, and the degree can also serve as a pathway to graduate study in occupational therapy, gerontology, or other allied health professions. The degree is a four-year program based at Brock's Niagara Region campus in St. Catharines, Ontario.
