Overview
This joint program combines academic study of digital media at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) with applied, industry-oriented training at Centennial College. Over roughly four years, students begin with core media studies coursework at UTSC examining how digital technology has reshaped media and cultural representation, then complete a block of courses at Centennial's Centre for Creative Communication focused on multimedia design and development for web and mobile platforms, before returning to UTSC for their remaining academic coursework. It is not a direct-entry program: current UTSC students may request a place in it after completing a minimum number of credits, subject to space availability. On completion, students earn an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a major in New Media Studies from the University of Toronto; those who complete an additional summer session covering an internship and professional practice coursework may also receive a certificate in New Media Design from Centennial College. The program suits students who want to pair university-level research and theory in media studies with practical, technical design skills, preparing them for work in web communication and new media industries.

Admission Requirements: This program has no direct-entry route from Ontario high school; applicants first complete at least one year (4.0 credits) of University of Toronto Scarborough study before requesting the program on ACORN and submitting a Supplementary Application Form (an unofficial academic record, a personal statement and any published-work links). The department states a portfolio is not required. Entry is competitive; alongside UTSC's standard 50% pass mark, a final grade of 60% or higher is required in every Centennial College course to continue in the joint curriculum. Applicants whose language of instruction was not English must meet UTSC's institution-wide proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, PTE Academic 65 overall with no part below 60, or CAEL 70 overall with no part below 60. The joint program begins Fall 2027, leading to an Honours BA plus a Centennial College certificate or diploma.

Application Deadline:Centennial publishes no application deadline for this program; what follows is the Ontario college cycle that governs it. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for a program starting in Fall 2027 the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and applications arriving after it are still assessed, but first-come first-served while places remain. Across the Ontario college system the application opened on 26 September 2026, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and an offer must be accepted by 1 May 2027. One $150 fee covers up to five program choices. International applicants apply directly to Centennial through its own international application process and are assessed on a rolling basis across the Fall, Winter and Summer intakes; the college publishes no fixed international closing date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
