Program details

Overview

Sciences de la nature is Collège Lionel-Groulx's general pre-university science program, leading to a Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) intended for students curious about natural phenomena and interested in continuing to university-level science study. The program page describes coursework spanning five scientific disciplines — biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics — supported by up-to-date laboratories and described as preparing students for university programs in fields such as actuarial science, architecture, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, medicine, pharmacy and physics. The page notes a varied course offering spanning both pure sciences and health sciences streams, meant to keep students engaged across the two years. It is suited to students who want to understand and explain natural phenomena, who are drawn to the structure and properties of matter, chemical reactions, the environment, health and life sciences, and who show interest in mathematics and computing alongside curiosity and creativity. Admission requires the general college conditions plus Secondary 5 prerequisites in Mathematics (TS, SN, or 536), Chemistry (534) and Physics (534); there is no admission quota. The DEC is the standard pathway into science, health-science and engineering university programs, giving access to fields including actuarial science, agronomy, architecture, biochemistry, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, biology and chemistry, among others.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Beyond the college's general admission conditions (a DES, or a DEP plus Secondary 5 language of instruction, Secondary 5 second language and Secondary 4 mathematics, or equivalent training/experience, plus adequate French with the Bright test at 3.7 minimum for anyone without a francophone-sector DES), this program (200.B1) requires Mathematics TS or SN Secondary 5 (or code 536), Chemistry Secondary 5 (or 534) and Physics Secondary 5 (or 534). The program carries no enrolment cap ("aucun contingentement"), so there is no competitive admission average beyond meeting the stated prerequisites. It runs over two years, with an option to extend to 2.5 or 3 years, and admits in both the fall and winter sessions. Applications are submitted online through SRAM.

Application Details

Start Date: September and January
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca: the college's own admission page states an equal-consideration date of 1 March for Fall entry and 1 November for Winter entry, which for the 2027 cycle fall on 1 March 2027 (Fall) and 1 November 2026 (Winter), with Winter 2027 applications opening 15 September 2026. Collège Lionel-Groulx does not publish a dedicated international-admissions page of its own; international applicants would follow SRAM's system-wide window, published as 15 March 2026 to 14 March 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, though the college has not confirmed this itself. Admission proceeds round by round on a rolling basis after each equal-consideration date until seats are filled. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
