Overview
College of New Caledonia's Electrician Foundation certificate is a 24-week, full-time program at the Prince George campus that teaches direct-current electrical theory and hands-on practice, covering circuit analysis, use of meters and test equipment, reading and interpreting electrical prints and drawings, basic motor control and industrial power electronics, and application of the Canadian Electrical Code, which is covered daily for one to two hours given its central role in the trade. Graduates earn credit for SkilledTradesBC Level 1 technical training in the Electrician Common Core and can go on to apprentice as either a Construction Electrician or an Industrial Electrician without needing an employer sponsor first, since the foundation program is built to give students the experience needed to find one; students can also pursue dual Red Seal certification in both electrical trades by completing additional specialized fourth-level training. Admission requires a C grade in English Language Arts 11, Foundations of Math 11, and Physics 11, with mature-student consideration available for applicants who don't meet those prerequisites, and the program runs on a first-qualified, first-accepted basis with limited seats.

Seats are limited and awarded first qualified, first accepted. The page states no test-based English-language requirement of its own; applicants otherwise meet CNC's general levels of IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0, PTE Academic overall 59 with no section below 55, CAEL overall 60 with no subtest below 60, CELPIP General with no section below 7, or Duolingo English Test overall 115 valid two years, as set out in CNC's admission requirements.

Application Deadline:College of New Caledonia runs first-qualified, first-accepted admissions with no single deadline for most programmes. Domestic and international applicants use the same process, though international students also go through CNC's international application page: applications for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 entry are open now, and applications for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 entry open on 1 October 2026. Seats are assessed on a rolling basis and close once a programme fills or the term begins; CNC advises applying as soon as applications open, and international applicants typically get an offer letter within four to six weeks. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program) and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Diploma are exceptions, each carrying a fixed 1 March application-and-documentation deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
