Overview
Career Development Professional is a part-time, online graduate certificate program that will prepare you for the career development sector. The world of work is rapidly changing, and new careers are emerging to meet current and future workforce needs. Career development professionals provide information, advice and guidance related to career exploration, human resources, skills acquisition, job search, and maintenance. This program provides training to enter and/or advance in the field of career development in roles such as employment advisors, career resource specialists, job developers, or career management professionals. This program may also appeal to practitioners working in the field who want to gain additional formal credentials, job coaching experience or attain their Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP). The Career Development Professional graduate certificate program can help you master the 16 key competencies which are the basis for the CCDP examination.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This part-time Ontario College Graduate Certificate admits applicants with an Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, or equivalent, or, absent that credential, a minimum of five years of full-time work experience within the past ten years as an employment counsellor, career advisor, human resources professional, or similar role; preference goes to candidates whose post-secondary studies included human development, psychology, or sociology, or who have paid or voluntary experience in career or employment counselling, human resources, or life-skills coaching. As an Ontario College Graduate Certificate, the program carries Conestoga's higher graduate-certificate-band English-language requirement where transcripts are not in English: IELTS Academic overall band 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no skill below 22, PTE Academic 58, or CAEL 70 overall with no sub-test below 60. Applicants with foreign transcripts must have them assessed by a service such as ICAS or WES, and apply directly through Ontario Colleges (ontariocolleges.ca).

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
