Conestoga provides you with the skills to be job ready to enter this high demand trade. Our one-year program provides Level 1 apprenticeship schooling with an emphasis on hands-on learning. The Bachelor of Early Learning Program Development is a four-year, paid co-op degree program, delivered at the honours level, that will provide students with an applied understanding of developing early learning programs at the classroom and community levels. The program will prepare graduates for a number of progressive careers that support children, youth and families in the areas of pedagogy, curriculum development, implementation and coordination, program development and co-ordination, and social policy work. With a focus on preparing reflective professionals, the program will offer students opportunities to develop strong critical thinking and professional communication skills that will enable them to work successfully in an inter-professional team. Program design, implementation and evaluation will be considered within a framework of research-informed practice, population focus, and social inclusion. Woodworking Technician (Optional Co-op) Applied Professions & Services On-campus English
As a student in the Woodworking Technician program, you will study at one of the most advanced woodworking training facilities in North America. You will receive a solid foundation in the skills and technology involved in the manufacture of furniture, cabinets and architectural millwork, as well as training in modern manufacturing techniques. During the first year of the program, which is common with the Woodworking Technology program, you will spend a significant amount of time learning the set-up and operation of woodworking machinery and equipment, laminating, veneering, machining, sanding, assembly and finishing. The second year, which is also common with the Woodworking Technology program, involves extensive project work, introduction to production management skills, manufacturing of kitchen cabinets and architectural millwork. Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the trade schooling for an Ontario cabinetmaker apprenticeship are embedded in the program and this will provide you with a recognized advantage when starting your career. You may be exempt from apprenticeship in-school training should you choose to pursue a Cabinetmaker Apprenticeship. Co-op affords students the opportunity to relate in-school training with real industrial experience. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term in the spring semester between years 1 and 2 of the program.

Welding Techniques Applied Professions & Services On-campus English
There is a growing demand for skilled trade workers in Canada, and Conestoga College is meeting this demand by offering a variety of skilled trades education. Are you interested in learning how to become a welder or metal fabricator? This program might be right for you! This one-year program covers all the theoretical and practical learning outcomes for Level 1 of both the Welder (456A) and Metal Fabricator – Fitter (437A) apprenticeship programs in Ontario. As a student in this program, you will have the opportunity to develop welding skills in our state-of-the-art facility, using modern equipment with the common arc welding processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW or 'stick'), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or 'MIG'), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or 'TIG'). If you decide to pursue an apprenticeship in either trade, you may be exempt from this level of in-school training. You will be provided opportunities to challenge welding skills qualification tests as required by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). (Extra fees payable to this external weld testing authority will apply; these tests are optional.) The instructors in our programs combine years of teaching experience with decades of work in the welding industry. As a graduate of this program, you'll be ready for an apprenticeship as a welder or metal fabricator.

Are you interested in welding robotics, metal fabrication and welding engineering? Would you enjoy hands-on learning in a state-of-the-art facility? This program might be right for you! In this dynamic three-year advanced diploma program, you will gain a balanced education in welding engineering technology, combined with practical work in the metal fabrication, welding, robotics, metallurgical, and non-destructive testing laboratories. As a graduate of this program, you are eligible to apply directly for certification under CSA W178.2 as a Level 1 Welding Inspector. The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) conditionally recognizes this program as meeting all the academic requirements for certification in the Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) category. This program also covers all the learning outcomes for Level 1 of the Welder (456A) and Metal Fabricator - Fitter (437A) apprenticeship programs in Ontario. Are you interested in learning how to become a welder or metal fabricator? This program might be right for you! This two-year program covers all the theoretical and practical learning outcomes for Level 1 and 2 of both the Metal Fabricator – Fitter (437A) and the Welder (456A) apprenticeship programs in Ontario. As a student in this program, you will learn to follow metal fabrication projects from the computer-aided engineering drawing (CAD) stage, through to the cutting and forming processes of piece parts, to the fitting, welding, and inspection of fabrications. You will use conventional, and computer numerical controlled (CNC) fabrication equipment programmed using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. You also will develop welding skills that are in high demand with employers, in our state-of-the-art facility, using modern equipment including skills related to the common arc welding processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW or stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or MIG), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or TIG). The Standards of Practice define a minimum and uniform standard for private, fee-paid Home Inspectors.Home Inspections involve a visual inspection to assist home buyers/sellers by providing information related to the condition of a home prior to sale. Home Inspectors must be knowledgeable with all aspects of residential building systems and their operation. They must be able to recognize and report on conditions and/or the potential for failure. In this diploma program, students gain skills for a career in today's automated manufacturing setting. In addition to developing a thorough knowledge of numerically controlled manufacturing systems, students will acquire a comprehensive background in general manufacturing and design fundamentals. This program can lead to exciting careers in several areas including, but not limited to, programming numerical controlled machines and integrating various manufacturing systems and robotics. The broad-based curriculum includes: the application of numerical control (NC) programming concepts; the utilization of CAD/CAM techniques to integrate design and manufacturing; an introduction to the world of robotics; an introduction to designing power-transmitting devices and developing; the application of quality assurance process planning and production control techniques to the solution of practical manufacturing problems. Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician Health, Food & Medical On-campus English
The Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician program will prepare you with the skills and abilities to perform pre-analysis components of medical lab work under direct supervision of medical laboratory technologists in hospitals, physician's offices, and private medical laboratory settings. Through a combination of theoretical, practical, simulated and clinical learning experiences, this one-year, three-term certificate program will help you become proficient in the collection of blood samples, processing of clinical samples, performing ECGs, the use of laboratory equipment, and being fluent in medical terminology. Communication and interpersonal skills are also developed in the program for patient interaction. Medical laboratory technologists play an integral role in the healthcare system by conducting sophisticated medical laboratory tests and assisting with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This three-year advanced diploma program will provide you with a mix of hands-on laboratory skills, classroom learning, use of state-of-the-art laboratories, simulation learning, and real-world experience through clinical placements. Throughout the program, you will take a broad array of science and mathematics courses, emphasizing laboratory analysis in five key disciplines: Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Histotechnology, and Transfusion Sciences. In the final level of the program, you will complete a series of three-week hospital rotations that will emphasize clinical procedures and acquaint you with hospital operation and administration. As a graduate of the Medical Laboratory Science Advanced Diploma, you will be eligible to write the national certification examination(s) conducted by the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR). Certification qualifies you to work across Canada or for registration with the provincial colleges, such as the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), which is a requirement to practice in Ontario. You may choose to continue your studies and complete a degree at Conestoga College within the Bachelor of Applied Biotechnology, Bachelor of Environmental Public Health, or Bachelor of Applied Health Information Science Program. Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education (CICE) Education, Community & Social Services On-campus English
The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program is a two-year program designed to provide individuals with exceptionalities and other significant learning challenges the opportunity to experience college life and enhance their academic and vocational skills with modified programming and support from Learning Strategists. The program includes a number of core courses common to all CICE students in topics such as human relations and communications, job skills, life skills, computer skills, and health and wellness. Other courses will be drawn from a number of current programs in various areas, such as Community Services, Business, and Creative Industries, that reflect student interests and have been intentionally modified to suit the unique learning needs of each individual. These modified courses will allow the CICE students to develop vocational skills associated with their elected area of interest. Throughout the program, students will participate in work placements intended to develop and enhance work skills and involvement with the community. The program will support students to be more independent members of the community, with the goal of transitioning to volunteer or paid employment or further academic studies.
