Trades - Apprenticeship in Roofer Apprenticeship

The Roofer Apprenticeship program delivers the in-school technical training for apprentices working toward certification as a Roofer (449A) in Ontario. The curriculum covers roofing materials and installation techniques across sloped and low-slope roofing systems, together with repair and maintenance practices and current sustainable roofing practices, combining theoretical instruction with hands-on shop and site-based training that simulates real-world job-site scenarios. Safety standards and regulations are emphasized throughout, preparing apprentices to work safely and to contribute to safer job sites. Apprentices alternate this in-school training with employer-based on-the-job training and need an employer sponsor and a registered Training Agreement with Skilled Trades Ontario before beginning in-class study. Apprentices in the roofing trade may work on both residential and commercial job sites. The program is delivered part-time and in person at the Thunder Bay campus.
