Program details

Overview

This is a British Columbia Ministry of Education program for learners aged 18 and older that leads to the BC Adult Graduation Diploma, also known as the Adult Dogwood. It requires completion of only five courses rather than a full secondary program: a Language Arts 12 course such as English Studies 12, a mathematics course chosen from Math 11, Math 12, or Financial Accounting 12, and three further Grade 12-level elective courses, or two Grade 12 electives combined with Social Studies 11. Up to two of the five courses may be credited from previously completed high school study. Students following this program are not required to write the Graduation Literacy Assessment. Depending on prior credits, it can be completed in as little as one to two semesters. The program suits adult learners who already hold some secondary-school credits and want an accelerated route to a recognized BC graduation credential before moving on to university transfer studies or another British Columbia college program.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Coquitlam College's Adult Graduation Program is a BC Ministry of Education credential for students 18 and over. Applicants must complete five courses to graduate, at least three of them at the Grade 12 level, including Language Arts 12 and Mathematics 11 or 12 plus Grade 12-level electives or Social Studies 11; up to two of the five courses may be transferred from prior study, and students in this program are exempt from the Graduation Literacy Assessment. The program's own page states no fixed IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo score; under the college's general admission requirements, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency (those below the required level are directed to the college's English Studies Program first) and must hold Canadian citizenship or a valid study permit, submitting official transcripts and proof of English proficiency at application.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Coquitlam College uses one rolling-admission process for both domestic and international applicants, with no fixed opening or closing date: completed applications are reviewed within five business days of submission, year-round. The college runs three intakes a year — Fall (classes begin 8 September 2026), Spring (6 January 2027) and Summer (3 May 2027) — and seats in each intake are offered as applications are approved rather than on a set schedule. International applicants are not given a separate deadline; the college's own pages recommend applying early enough to allow time for a study permit but state no specific date. Admission is rolling throughout the cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
