The Gender, Sexualities and Women's Studies Associate Degree examines the socio-cultural, economic and psychological inequities associated with gender, sexuality, race and class, including the contributions of women throughout history and the relationship between feminism and social justice. The credential is a provincially-recognized 60-credit, two-year Associate of Arts Degree with a thematic focus in Gender, Sexualities and Women's Studies (GSWS), offered through the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts at Douglas College, with admission under Open Enrolment - General Admission Requirements. Beyond the degree's general Associate of Arts requirements, students complete specified GSWS foundation courses and at least six further courses from a defined list spanning subjects such as anthropology, sociology and history. An optional Co-operative Education designation alternates study semesters with paid work terms. Graduation requires a minimum GPA of 2.00, with at least half the credits completed at Douglas College, within a seven-year completion window.
