Overview

The Performing and Fine Arts Associate Degree covers music, art history, film studies, theatre history and creative writing for stage or screen, with opportunities to perform and to join a vocal or instrumental ensemble under the instruction of professional artists. The credential is a 60-credit, two-year Associate of Arts Degree offered through the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts at Douglas College, with admission under Open Enrolment - General Admission Requirements. At least 18 of the 60 credits must be in Performing and Fine Arts (PEFA), of which nine must be second-year-level courses transferable to a BC research university (SFU, UBC, UVic or UNBC); courses selected against the BC Transfer Guide can transfer in full toward a bachelor's degree, typically entering third year. An optional Co-operative Education designation alternates study semesters with paid work terms. Graduation requires a minimum program GPA of 2.00, with at least half the credits completed at Douglas College, within a seven-year completion window.
