Overview

The Philosophy Associate Degree at Douglas College is a two-year, 60-credit, four-semester credential covering ancient and modern philosophy, ethics, and related areas of inquiry drawn from both historical traditions and contemporary issues. The Summer Institute for Continental Philosophy offers a third-year course, PHIL 3380: Continental Philosophy, together with a guest lecture; the course may transfer as third-year credit to universities across British Columbia, including UBC and SFU, and is open to post-secondary students with nine credits in Philosophy or a suitable equivalent. An optional Co-operative Education stream allows students to alternate semesters of study with paid, full-time work terms; participation requires planning two semesters in advance through the Co-op Office. A tuition-free, six-week online preparatory course, MATU 0500 Set for Stats, is available for students refreshing mathematics skills before the required statistics course.
