Overview
By building on their understanding of conventional vehicle systems inside DC’s state-of-the-art Vanhaverbeke Family EV Training Centre, students develop expertise in diagnosing and servicing electric and hybrid vehicles from various manufacturers. The curriculum is future-focused and covers major components like EV powertrains, batteries, regenerative braking, fuel cells, and safety systems. Students gain a deep understanding of how these vehicles operate and how to maintain them effectively through a 56-hour EV technician capstone project. Graduates will be ready to meet the needs of the evolving automotive industry and prepared for exciting and rewarding careers in the EV service and maintenance sector.

Admission Requirements: Durham College's minimum entry is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or Mature Student Status. The Electric Drive Vehicle Technician program adds Grade 12 mathematics at the C, M or U level and Grade 12 English at the C or U level; it states no minimum admission average.
