Overview
Two progressive clinical placements of 450 hours each in the final two semesters will help you to become familiar with the role of a Cardiac Sonographer in a clinical setting. In your first placement in semester 3 you will have the opportunity to observe all aspects of the cardiology department and apply practical skills in a real-world setting. Taking on a greater role in your placement in semester 4, you can refine your practical, interpersonal, and patient management skills. Placements can occur anywhere within Ontario and therefore may require travel.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma, degree, or equivalent in a health or health-science-related field (for example Biotechnology - Advanced, Massage Therapy, Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant, Paramedic, Pharmacy Technician, Respiratory Therapy, or Practical Nursing); applicants without a qualifying credential but with a relevant combination of education and experience may be considered individually. The programme page states no English-proficiency test score; Fleming College's institution-wide tier for graduate-certificate programs applies: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88, Duolingo 120, or PTE Academic 56. International applicants submit an equivalent post-secondary credential, certified with notarized English translations where needed, per Fleming's general admission requirements. Clinical placements may be assigned anywhere in Ontario, with associated housing, parking and security-badge costs, and graduates must pass Sonography Canada's entry-to-practice exams and register with CMRITO to practise.
