Mental Health and Addiction Worker - Social Service Worker Dual Diploma

The Mental Health and Addiction Worker - Social Service Worker Dual Diploma is an Ontario College Diploma pathway at Fleming College that combines the Mental Health and Addiction Worker diploma with the Social Service Worker diploma over six consecutive semesters. Students begin in either the Mental Health and Addiction Worker or the Social Service Worker diploma and apply internally, after their first semester, to move into the dual-diploma stream. The curriculum covers skills for working with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities, with emphasis on anti-oppressive practice, recovery-oriented approaches, trauma-informed care, and Indigenous healing practices. Instruction combines classroom coursework with field placement and is delivered in hybrid format at the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough. Graduates hold two Ontario College Diplomas and become eligible for membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, preparing them for roles across mental health, addiction, and broader social service settings.
