Overview

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) (B302) is a four-year business degree at George Brown College designed in collaboration with employers, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and FP Canada. After a common first year, students specialize in either Accounting or Financial Planning, studying accounting, investment management, corporate finance, banking, business administration and financial planning theory. At least 14 weeks of full-time-equivalent work-integrated learning with field education partners builds real-world experience, and graduates are positioned to pursue professional accounting and financial-planning designations.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 65.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six Grade 12 university (U) or university/college (M) courses, including Grade 12 (U) English and Grade 12 (U) Mathematics, and an overall average of 65% across those six courses; mature applicants (19 or older, without an OSSD) need the same English and Mathematics credits, with no separate testing route for the missing university-level credits. English-language proficiency is met by George Brown Polytechnic ESL Level 9, IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each band, TOEFL iBT 84 overall with 21 in each band, MELAB 85, or CAEL 70 overall with a 60 minimum in writing. Its Accounting major is accredited by CPA Ontario as meeting the CPA Preparatory (PREP) requirements. Meeting the published minimums does not guarantee admission; George Brown ranks applicants on their grades and competitive intakes often require marks above them.
