Overview
In the Environmental Technician program, you gain the experience and skills required to enter the workforce as an entry-level practitioner who has the ability to use environmental sampling, monitoring and testing equipment, and information technology tools. You become familiar with standard operating procedures for conducting environmental projects. As you progress through this program, you build applied knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements, environmental management systems, and the basic principles of ecosystem-based management for sustainability. With a focus on experiential learning, you gain hands-on experience through fieldwork opportunities and prepare for entry into a range of positions as you undertake industry-related certifications.

Admission Requirements: Georgian College's own admission-requirements page for Environmental Technician asks for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature-student status, with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U); a Grade 11 or 12 science course such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics is strongly recommended for this science-based programme. Mature applicants 19 or older without an OSSD, non-secondary-school applicants, and home-schooled applicants can also be considered through equivalent courses, upgrading, a completed GED, or equivalency testing. The page states no standardized English-language test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or CAEL). The page also recommends a valid driver's licence for co-op work terms from semester two, appropriate fieldwork clothing including safety boots, and a Windows-compatible laptop.

International applicants apply directly through Georgian's own portal with no published closing date and are assessed on a rolling basis while seats remain, though Georgian warns a program open when applied to may close before assessment.
