Overview
In this program, you gain the advanced skills required to enter the workforce as an environmental practitioner with the ability to use environmental sampling, monitoring and testing equipment, as well as information technology tools. You gain experience in preparing and interpreting data using various analytical methods. You become familiar with the principles of ecosystem-based management for sustainability and develop the ability to manage environmental projects from planning through to implementation and maintenance. Through applied knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements, you are able to contribute to risk assessment and environmental systems management. The experience and knowledge you gain focuses on the need for designing and implementing systems to prevent, control and clean-up environmental contaminants. You are provided an opportunity to apply your skills through partnerships in the community, and you gain hands-on experience through field work opportunities and prepare for entry into a range of positions as you undertake industry-related certifications.

Admission Requirements: Georgian College's own admission-requirements page for Environmental Technology asks for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature-student status, with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U); a Grade 11 or 12 science course such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics is strongly recommended for this science-based programme. Mature applicants 19 or older without an OSSD, non-secondary-school applicants, and home-schooled applicants can also be considered through equivalent courses, upgrading, a completed GED, or equivalency testing, and those with post-secondary coursework or relevant experience are assessed through Credit for Prior Learning. The page states no standardized English-language test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo or CAEL) for international applicants, who are directed to a separate international-admissions section.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: 1 February 2027 is the equal-consideration date for Georgian's highly competitive programs, which now covers Fall 2027, Winter 2028 and Summer 2028 entry, and later applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats last; offers of admission for this 2026-2027 cycle must be accepted by 1 May 2027. Programs outside the highly competitive list carry no equal-consideration date and are assessed on a rolling basis year-round. International applicants apply directly through Georgian's own portal with no published closing date and are assessed on a rolling basis while seats remain, though Georgian warns a program open when applied to may close before assessment. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
