At Georgian College in Barrie, Canada, Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion is offered as a diploma in Sport and Exercise Science programme. The programme runs for 2 years, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 7,619 per semester (CAD 1,652 per semester for local students).
Study begins with the fundamentals of fitness and health promotion, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, client counselling and nutrition, paired with a large number of practical hours in dedicated exercise science labs. Industry experience comes through off-campus work-integrated learning, on-campus client training, planning and running a health promotion event, and preparing healthy foods in culinary labs. Course credit can carry into formal articulation agreements with a number of university degree programs.
