Program details
Overview
A graduate program that prepares clinical counsellors who integrate counselling expertise with a biblical worldview, combining counselling theory, biblical and theological studies, and supervised practicum experience. Graduates meet the academic requirements for professional recognition through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists, preparing them for roles in Christian organizations, church and parachurch counselling ministries, or private practice. The program is offered full-time or part-time and can be completed fully synchronously or fully asynchronously, with course delivery available on-site, by livestream, video-on-demand, online video, or directed study. Applicants must provide a Canadian criminal record and vulnerable-sector check covering a continuous three-year period, and the program is not available to international applicants. The program's flexible delivery options allow students to complete coursework while continuing to work or serve in ministry settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry follows Horizon Seminary's general graduate admission pathway: an undergraduate degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, or 90 credit hours of accredited undergraduate study at the same GPA, with conditional entry available to applicants 25 or older with professional experience who complete a six-course Graduate Certificate at a 2.7 GPA or higher. Applicants must submit original transcripts, a pastoral reference and a character reference, and testify to a definite Christian conversion experience and an approved Christian character. A Canadian criminal record and vulnerable-sector check covering a continuous three-year period is also required. The program is not available to international applicants.
