Program details

Overview

The Arboriculture - Apprenticeship program at Humber Polytechnic provides the in-school training component for registered arboriculture apprentices, covering tree care and management in urban environments. The program combines a 12-week in-school Level 1 session with a 12-week Level 2 session, delivered at Humber's North Campus in Toronto. Field practice sessions run two to three days a week and involve tree climbing to heights of 40 feet or more for at least half of field time. Students supply their own personal protective equipment and small tools, and most field practice takes place at off-campus locations requiring self-arranged transportation. All students must have received a tetanus injection or booster within the last 10 years. Admission is regulated by Skilled Trades Ontario (STO): apprentices and their employer register through STO, which schedules the in-school training and issues an Offer of Classroom Training letter.
