PhD in Interdisciplinary Philosophy

The PhD in Interdisciplinary Philosophy is a doctoral program in philosophy and Christian scholarship, structured around seven interdisciplinary fields including philosophy of religion, social and political philosophy, and theology. Students complete the equivalent of two years of full-time coursework and comprehensive examinations that build on master's-level competence, followed by roughly three additional years of full-time work on a dissertation. The program is offered either as a standalone Ontario doctoral degree or as a conjoint degree with the Free University of Amsterdam, with the dissertation defended in Toronto or Amsterdam depending on the track chosen. Students may take courses through the Toronto School of Theology consortium. Candidates are required to demonstrate reading proficiency in at least two languages other than English. The program prepares graduates for research and teaching positions in philosophy and related fields, within a framework of integrally Christian scholarship.
