Program details

Overview

This associate degree builds a foundation in biblical and theological study through core coursework in Inductive Bible Study, Pentateuch, Gospels, and Acts and Romans, supplemented by additional theology and ministry electives. Students also complete coursework in Spiritual Formation and Personal Evangelism, pairing academic study of scripture with practices intended to support personal spiritual growth and the ability to communicate Christian teaching to others. The program is designed so graduates can clearly articulate the basic doctrines of the Christian faith. It is offered on Kingswood University's campus and functions in two ways: as a standalone credential for students who want a better understanding of the Bible and theology without committing to a ministry-focused degree, and as a prerequisite pathway for students planning to continue into Kingswood's Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology. It suits students at an early stage of theological study who want flexibility before committing to a longer program.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: The programme page for the Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies states no admission criteria of its own and directs applicants to Kingswood University's general admission requirements. Under those requirements, applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have achieved a minimum grade of 70% in Academic or College-preparatory courses taken in grades 10, 11 or 12, specifically two English credits, two Math or Science credits, and two Social Science credits (such as history, sociology, geography, civics or psychology). Students who fall short of this background or grade level may still be admitted on a conditional basis, with their first semester serving as a qualifying semester. All prospective students are additionally assessed on moral behaviour and character, personal Christian testimony, and ministry graces. Neither page publishes specific IELTS, TOEFL or other English-proficiency test component scores; the university's international-student page states only that a proficiency test is required.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Kingswood University publishes no fixed application deadline: domestic undergraduate and graduate (Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology) applicants apply on a continuous basis by submitting the application, transcripts, and a pastor's reference, with admission granted as files are completed. International applicants follow the same rolling process but must additionally satisfy Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) requirements -- a tuition deposit, passport and consent, and proof of English proficiency -- before Kingswood forwards the PAL request to the Province of New Brunswick; the university publishes no current-cycle international closing date, only historical guidance tied to a 2024 policy change. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
