Overview
The Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) is a 128-credit credential offered through Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Wilson School of Design. The programme follows a prescribed four-year plan of study built around sequential studio courses, building technologies, and design awareness courses, alongside required practical experience: students must log 80 hours in an interior design or architectural firm under the supervision of a registered interior designer before their final-year studio course. In Year 4, Honours students investigate a self-directed topic and complete an individually focused interior design project. Admission Requirements: In addition to the Wilson School of Design's admission requirements, which consist of KPU's Undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement, applicants must submit an Entrance Package through SlideRoom -- a questionnaire, resume, one to three letters of reference, a short video, and a design portfolio -- and attend an interview. Once enrolled, studio courses require a minimum grade of C+ and all other required courses a minimum grade of C to continue in the program, and students must log 80 hours of practical experience in an interior design or architectural firm before their final-year studio course. To declare the Honours stream by the end of Year 3, students must complete the required studio sequence (IDSN 1101, 1212, 2303, 2404, 3505, and 3606) with a minimum GPA of 3.3, complete all other required Year 1 through 3 courses with a minimum grade of C, and gain approval from the Interior Design Honours Committee.
