Overview

The Honours Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Design - Experiential Learning is a four-year, 120-unit undergraduate degree offered by the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Engineering. The programme emphasizes student choice, multidisciplinary learning, digital and data fluency, and professional skills development, combining engineering and technical training with study in other fields chosen by the student. United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are integrated into courses and student projects throughout the degree. Students complete three internships over the course of the programme, providing applied, experiential learning alongside academic coursework. The degree is designed to prepare graduates for roles with impact on a global scale, drawing on both technical and interdisciplinary skills.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants need English 4U (ENG4U) or Français 4U (FRA4U), one of Advanced Functions 4U (MHF4U) or Calculus and Vectors 4U (MCV4U), and one of Biology 4U (SBI4U), Chemistry 4U (SCH4U), Computer Science 4U (ICS4U), or Physics 4U (SPH4U). The published minimum admission average is 75%, notably lower than the other Faculty of Engineering programs, reflecting the program's broader, less STEM-intensive design curriculum. Students missing the mathematics or science prerequisite may take a replacement course at the University in the summer before or during first year. Note that the three-year credential is a Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Design rather than a BASc; the four-year BASc Multidisciplinary Design Engineering variant shares the identical admission line.
