Overview
Cette formation offre une introduction complète aux principes fondamentaux de l'optique et au rôle de l'assistant en optométrie : terminologie ophtalmique, anatomie de l'œil et principaux tests ophtalmiques. L'étudiant apprend à interpréter une ordonnance de lunettes émise par un optométriste ou un ophtalmologiste, à effectuer les ajustements et réparations de montures, le taillage de lentilles et l'initiation au port de lentilles cornéennes, ainsi qu'à gérer les patients d'une clinique d'optique sous supervision professionnelle. La Cité est le seul établissement à offrir ce programme en français en Ontario.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic entry — Ontario: OSSD or a Canadian equivalent, or at 19 or over satisfactory scores of 250 in reading comprehension and 275 in numeracy; you also need Mathematics MAP4C, MCR3U or MCF3M and one of Biology (SBI3C or SBI3U), Chemistry (SCH3U or SCH4C) or Physics (SPH3U or SPH4C). Quebec: the secondary diploma plus Mathematics TS 064406 or SN 065406 and one science from Biology (ST 055404, STE 058404 or Biologie 534), Chemistry 051504 or Physics 053504; applicants of 19 or over may instead reach 250 in reading comprehension and 250 in numeracy. New Brunswick: Mathematics 30321B plus one of Biology 53411, Chemistry 52311 or Physics 51411, with the same 250/250 route for applicants of 19 or over. International applicants must hold a secondary-school diploma or baccalaureate, or be in their final secondary year with proof of enrolment. La Cité states that admission is competitive because places are limited and is never guaranteed.
