Diploma in Child and Youth Care Counsellor

The Child and Youth Care Counsellor Diploma is a two-year, face-to-face program delivered at Lakeland College's Vermilion campus. It builds relationship-based competencies for promoting the resiliency and wellbeing of children, youth, and families, including counselling, mentoring, therapeutic relationship-building, family intervention support, and recognizing signs of abuse and addiction. Students complete four field placements over the two years, working across diverse settings. The program is accredited by the Child and Youth Care Educational Accreditation Board of Canada (CYCEAB), with accreditation running from February 2021 to February 2028. Graduates work in child- and youth-serving organizations, family support agencies, and community services.
