Program details

Overview

The Grand Diploma in Baking & Pastry Arts (program code BPG) at LaSalle College Vancouver is an 18-month diploma-level credential in baking and pastry arts. Students train with industry-standard kitchen equipment and professional-grade ingredients as part of hands-on instruction in a professional culinary environment. Students may add an optional co-op component after their initial four quarters of coursework, consisting of two paid work terms totaling 770 hours completed over up to 12 months, with an optional break between work terms. Co-op combines classroom instruction with supervised workplace experience, helping students build practical skills, earn income and develop professional connections before completing the programme. On completion, students earn a Grand Diploma from LaSalle College Vancouver. This programme is not eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which international students should factor into their post-graduation work plans in Canada.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to this diploma is evaluated on the applicant's prior education and submitted documents rather than a minimum grade point average or entrance exam. Domestic applicants generally need to provide proof of secondary school graduation or an equivalent credential, together with a copy of government-issued photo identification. International applicants must meet the same baseline of secondary school completion, but must submit that proof with official English translations, along with a photocopy of a valid passport and proof of English language proficiency. No program-specific minimum grade, required course, entrance essay, or portfolio is stated for this diploma; the listed documents are the general admissions criteria LaSalle College Vancouver publishes on the program's own page, and the same criteria are repeated across its other business, technology, culinary and hospitality diplomas.
