Early Learning and Child Care is a diploma exit option from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum Studies, awarded to students who successfully complete the first two years, 64 credits, of the four-year degree program. Admission Requirements: Admission is to the four-year Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum Studies; students who complete the first two years (64 credits) are eligible for the Early Learning and Child Care diploma. Regular admission requires a minimum 65% overall average with no grade below 50% in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2, Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2, and three additional approved subjects; applicants with nine or more university credits require a minimum 2.0 admission grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Mature applicants (age 20 or older, out of full-time high school for at least one year) must meet the same 65% minimum in English Language Arts and Social Studies, with a minimum 2.0 AGPA if they hold nine or more university credits. Applicants who have completed an Early Learning and Child Care diploma or equivalent, or at least 24 post-secondary credits with a minimum 2.0 AGPA, may apply under the previous post-secondary pathway. All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency and submit a clear Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search within three months of the intake term.
