Program details
Overview
This diploma in social work covers counselling, social justice, systems navigation, trauma-informed practice, and anti-oppressive approaches, alongside skills in advocacy, addictions support, and community-based practice. The program combines classroom instruction with over 700 hours of hands-on practicum delivered through two supervised placements in community and mental health service settings. Practicum placements require a police information check, proof of immunization, CPR certification, and mask fit testing for certain sites. It suits individuals seeking frontline social service work supporting individuals and communities through ethical and inclusive practice. Graduates are eligible to register as Social Work Diploma Practitioners with the Alberta College of Social Workers and pursue roles in family and youth support, community outreach, housing support, transition support, and system navigation across public, non-profit, and grassroots organizations.
